Slip N Slide Papa style :)

So all of you who know my father, know he can never do things the traditional way. Since it has been so hot here he decided to make the kids a slip n slide. Instead of buying one because it just wouldn't be long enough or as fun to play on...he made one for them and they LOVE it!!! But just there swimming suits didn't slide good enough (fast and dangerous enough) so he dressed them in garbage bags and they went flying and laughed and screamed the whole way down.

This past Saturday I got to watch Arkansas's kids for the day. Her hubby had been gone on TDY for the past week and she was leaving for Florida for a week. So I watched the kids so they could spend the day together....I know I'm the best :) So instead of trying to keep the kids happy in 100 degree weather at the house we packed a lunch and lots of snacks and headed for the lake!!!

Eve is a hard lil lady to keep track of so we attached a balloon to her life jacket. She was so dang cute!!!

Ok so we are sitting on the shore watching the kids and this guy joins a bunch of people partying next to us. Then he walks out on the dock in a SPEEDO!!!! I threw up in my mouth, busted out laughing...notice the cowboy hat...then text Todd to let him know what he was missing out on not being at the lake with me....he was completely jealous!!!!

He was strutting around on the dock like he was something to look at....I couldn't help but take a picture of him looking like he's about to spin around on this pole and start doing a pole dance for us all!!! Oh yeah we know how to have fun in the big ol' town of Yelm :)

And she only walked away with 2 band aides on her hands. One she was using a saw and tried to take her finger off and the other she smashed with a rock!!!

Vanessa was quite excited because she FINALLY got to go to the beach with us. She usually ends up at her dads and doesn't get to go camping with us.

So we got to the beach late Wednesday night. I put my eye cover on and went to sleep. Crazy people like to get up EARLY!!! So mom thought it would be cute to take a picture of me since everyone else was up and there's Sarah sleeping away :)

We had for dinner one night steak and potatoes. Matthew was bored waiting for us to cook the meat over the fire he went and found his own roasting stick and loaded it up with meat....It was so good :)

Knives

Papa thought the kids needed to have pocket knives of their own. So they all decided to make knives out of wood with there real knives!!! Yes that would be my 6 YEAR OLD with his own knife.....
He takes this very seriously

Then she thought the handle was too long and asked Papa to help her cut it off....
She just wasn't expecting him to tell her to hold on to the tiny end piece while he used the saw on it!!!
She even named her knife the Sess knife

Then Papa decided to make a BIG knife. Now this is a man who is used to power tools and saws to make the job easier. So needless to say he was about to die after hand sawing this lil knife out of wood....it was quite fun to watch though :)

And finally the end product. It was actually a pretty cool knife :) Until of course Vanessa tried to saw my arm in half with it....IT HURT!!!!

The kids worked all afternoon making this fort all by themselves. They were so proud of it and played it all day
